RFID stands for Radio frequency identification. It is a technology for tracking objects or people. Radio waves are used to read or write from a small distance the memory of a chip (tag, transponder, label or smart label).
The read information, a unique number for example, is then processed in the downstream system.
The main advantages of using an RFID system are:
* Improved inventory management;
* Insight into the supply chain;
* Faster tracing of goods;
* Less time necessary to identify objects;
* More efficient working practices;
